Elisabeth Martineu

PhD Molecular Biology – Swiss and European Patent Attorney

Elisabeth Martineu received her PhD in molecular biology from the University of Lausanne (1998). Elisabeth’s studies focused on thyroid hormone receptors and the transactivation of target genes through their interactions with RXR, co-activators and co-repressors. She received fellowships and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Geneva, where she worked on agonists and antagonists of estrogen receptors. Elisabeth is author/co-author of original research articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular Endocrinology and Cancer Research.

She worked as a scientist for a start-up company that developed stable chemokine receptor B lymphocyte cell lines and purification protocols for recombinant proteins. From 2004 to 2008 she was a project manager and gained experience in intellectual property as a patent manager at AC Immune, a biotech company developing vaccines and humanized antibodies against Alzheimer’s disease. In 2008, she joined the intellectual property department of a large pharmaceutical company, Merck Serono, where she specialized in patent portfolio prosecution. From 2010 to 2020 she worked in various law firms and passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) in 2019 to become a patent attorney. 

Elisabeth is specialized in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, organic chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
